We need some new threads, so I've worked on this the last couple of days when I had the time. Enjoy. ;D
Once you've gained control of the enemy's node, your job is to defend the node so they can't retake it. There's several strategies to keep them at bay, here they are:
Allure-TrapOne of the main spots in Rott CNT games is the alcove above the razor, people usually spawn there or in the air tower with the Laark. Once you've taken their node, they'll spawn near the alcove most likely, and from there are only 2 possible entrances to go through to go back to the node you took from them. If you plant a ton of Allure mines near one entrance around the corners, they'll be forced to move into the other entrance, and you can wait there and easily kill them in groups with the shotgun and plasmas. In the first entrance, here are the places where you should plant the mines:
After dying a few times there, they're forced to go to the other entrance, and you can wait around the corner with a shotgun and plasmas to eliminate them. It should be easy, since they'll walk around the corner and you can suddenly pop out and threw a couple plasmas. Here are the corners near the second entrance where you should wait:
Allure-SniperWhen you're defending your node from clusters of enemies, you can wait in your base as shown in the picture, and shoot 2 or 3 normal allure shots, and then quickly swap to the FR-1 and go into slow motion mode. Keep repeating the process, shoot 2 allures, then switch to the FR-1. That way, one of the entrances is blocked, because if the enemies try to go through there your allures will hit them, and they can't dodge because of your sniper swapping. It is a bit cheap like the sniper-nade trick so don't use it unless you absolutely have to. Another teammate can guard the ramp while the other 2 players try to take the enemy's node. Here's where you should wait and where you should shoot the allures:
Back-SniperAnother basic defensive tactic, wait behind the corner with the green dot with a sniper, shotgun, and a Laark. When a group of enemy's comes and tries to attack your node, you can snipe them with ease since they'll be standing fairly still while they attack the nodes. One or two enemies will probably have time to react, and in that case jump down with your shotgun and Laark to finish them off. The red arrows are where you jump down after sniping:
Well I gotta go, I'll add more to this later lol.
Team DefenseThis strategy is more complicated, and you need to have good teammates to use it, it's best used in 4 vs. 4 games where everyone is pro. The red square represents the Auger shield, one guy plants it about fifteen feet in front of the node. The green dot and represents the sniper, he'll be sniping at an angle right around the edge of the shield. The third guy, the blue dot, will be destroying their node. The Auger shield protects the node destroyer (blue dot) from enemy fire, and the sniper helps out by weakening the enemies, and the shield also protects him at the same time from nades. You'll need to practice with your clanmates/ teammates beforehand, but once you get it right it works really well when your playing good opponents and need to capture nodes quickly.
I paused some of Sol's vids and took pictures of the map, and then wrote all the dots and arrows over it for the tactics. Thanks Sol, hope ya don't mind.
